CALL For Submissions by Mon. 7/25: API Equality – Northern California Artist Collective Exhibit
Hello, my name is Maria, one of the API Equality-Northern California interns this summer. It is a honor for me to be coordinating this Artist Collective. This artist collective seeks to bring community members together to work on an art gallery for our 1st ever exhibit, held at Oakland Asian Cultural Center from August 7th to September 30th, 2016.
The exhibit is a great opportunity for us to showcase our LGBTQ+ Asian Pacific Islander hxtories and narratives by bringing them to life. The themes for the APIENC Artist Collective Exhibit are Dragon Fruit Project and Resilience Archives. Priority will be given to LGBTQ+ API identified artists.
—— Approved pieces should be dropped off at the API Equality – Northern California Office (945 Sacramento) or submitted digitally latest by August 3rd.
——– All forms of media are accepted as long as they are light enough to be hung. For example, photography, painting, illustration, collage, mixed media, transcript, written work, etc…
——– Artists can submit up to 3 pieces per person. We will notify and confirm your selected artwork by July 29th.
——– It’d be preferable if you already had a frame or backing for the artwork. Limited funds are available for art making and/or hanging supplies.
——– All artists have the option to sell their artwork through the exhibit. Proceeds will be distributed equitably between OACC and the artist collective/artists.
——– All artists will need to sign release forms relating to exhibiting and sharing selected artwork as scans, audio stories, photos, artwork and other materials created.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Maria Hu Wu, coordinator of the APIENC Artist Collective. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
